Culinary Mastermind behind Indian Desire
Chef Vikas Vashistha has come up as a really fine food artist. He is the artist behind Indian Desire. A Delhi boy, he began kitchen life immersing himself in the lifestyle of Indian kitchens-trained under some of India's best celebrity chefs, including Sanjeev Kapoor and Harpal Singh."
Inspired by tradition-the flavorful and fragrant childhood memories-chef Vikas aspired to bring Indian homestyle cooking to North America. Such a strong image of relishing the comforting, authentic, soulful, and culture-rich food he grew up loving had now come to life in Indian Desire.
The journey never ended there. Chef Vikas has dreams of going beyond worldly travel destinations, bringing Indian Desire to the plane of accessibility and endearment for all food lovers around the globe. The mission is an uncomplicated yet profound one: to expose Indian culture through food and in return soak up all those global influences in the culinary gamut and bring those ideas back to India.
Humble beginning at Bloor Street West
Humble beginnings at 469 Bloor Street West. Indian Desire was opened in 2020. COVID and social distancing caused real damage when we were starting. In those days, the restaurant couldn't have indoor seating as the government was regulating social distancing. The neighbourhood communities like Bloor Annex and Colleges helped us to keep on surviving and thriving.
